Victor A. Rudis, Research Forester

Specialization: Landscape ecology, with interests in forest mensuration and strategic forest land appraisals of management, conservation, regional human impacts on forest communities, recreation and wildlife habitat, and on nonnative (exotic, noxious) invasive plant species distributions.

Ongoing projects: Ecosystem management research-- Ouachita-Ozark National Forest (AR) scenic beauty evaluation, in collaboration with Arkansas Tech, Mississippi State, and Texas A&M University: progress-to-date. Multiple-value forest resource data base and multi-disciplinary appraisals for forested 0.4 ha (1 acre) plots [17,000 in South Central (AL, AR, LA, MS, OK, TN, TX) and 27,000 in Southeastern (FL, GA, NC, SC, VA) States], largely on private land.

National projects: Ecological forest resources appraisal for the U.S. Resources Planning Act assessment. Compilation of FIA data-based wildlife, range, recreation, and misc., bibliographic citations. National inventory standards and framework for ecological monitoring.
